Amid the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan since April 2023, the United Arab Emirates has called for a political solution to the crisis, emphasizing the importance of an African-led approach and the crucial role of regional leadership in resolving conflicts.

This stance was reiterated during a meeting between Her Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, on the sidelines of the London Conference on Sudan. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on the Sudanese crisis, expressing support for regional efforts to achieve a political solution acceptable to all parties.
The UAE also stressed the need for international organizations to take a firmer stance against the use of humanitarian aid as a weapon against civilians, while reaffirming its call for an African-led resolution.
This call comes as Sudan faces a worsening humanitarian catastrophe, with millions suffering from food, water, and medical shortages, amid escalating violence between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to supporting both regional and international efforts aimed at ending the conflict and promoting peace and stability in Sudan.
