Russia has called on all parties involved in the conflict in Sudan to immediately cease hostilities and intensify political and diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the crisis through an inclusive national dialogue.

In a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Moscow emphasized the need for a Sudanese-led solution free from foreign interference, stressing the importance of preserving the country’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

According to the Russian news outlet RT, the statement expressed deep concern over the ongoing armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have continued since the outbreak of conflict in April 2023.

The ministry also condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure, calling them “unacceptable,” and urged all parties to strictly adhere to international humanitarian law.

Now entering its third year, the war in Sudan has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions. It is currently regarded as one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. United Nations estimates place the death toll at over 20,000, while the International Rescue Committee suggests it could exceed 150,000.
